Tomb Raider has sold 8.5 million copies
The 2013 reboot is the best selling title in the franchise
Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio, has announced that the Tomb Raider reboot from 2013 has sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide, more than any other game in the franchise’s history.
Originally released in March 2013 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, the game also set franchise sales records for its first day and month. It was followed up by the Definitive Edition, which included additional content and enhanced graphics for next gen platforms, in January 2014 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
The next game in the franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider, is expected late this year and is an Xbox exclusive at the moment.
