Divinity: Original Sin 2 hits Kickstarter
Sequel reaches funding goal within hours
Larian Studios have begun the Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin 2. It is the sequel to their well-received RPG that was released in the middle of last year. Larian has set a funding goal of $500,000 and it has already surpassed that target, just hours after the campaign launched. The Kickstarter campaign will continue for another 34 days, ending September 30th 2015.
The developers are funding the game themselves, but are using Kickstarter to create an even bigger adventure. All backers that pledge over $25 will receive alpha and beta access to provide feedback during development. The current release target for the sequel is the end of 2016 although that date is subject to change. There will be a playable prototype at PAX Prime, which begins on August 28th.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 occurs generations after the events of the first game. Sourcerers are now criminals and there is a bounty on your head. To save yourself, you'll need to take on the greatest Sourcerer the world has ever known. The game promises to take players through majestic cities, dangerous wastelands, lost temples, and war-torn battlefields. You will be able to recruit up to three companions. In multiplayer, four players can play co-operatively or competitively.
