Xfire sold, development team leaving
A broadcast to all users has revealed that the Xfire original development team is leaving
A broadcast distributed to all Xfire users today is stating that the company has been sold to a new owner, and in effect the development team that has worked on the software over the past few years is leaving.
The full broadcast states:
"Xfire was bought by new owners today. Most of the team that has built Xfire over the last six years is leaving. We enjoyed working for you for the last 127 releases and wish we could stay to create the next 127. Good bye, good luck, and game on.
--- The Xfire Team"
At this time, the Xfire.com website is also down, so no further details are available.
*** Update: The Xfire website is back online, though no further details are there. A note from Chris, a member of the dev team, appears in the news box. It reads similar to the broadcast message.
*** Update 2: The official forums are full of speculation, but nothing official has been released. All we know is that Viacom has sold the Xfire rights to the next owner.
*** Update 3: Xfire has been sold to little-known company Titan Gaming, as spotted by TechCrunch.
