Outriders reaches 3.5 million players
The shooter celebrates player count milestone after launch month
Publisher Square Enix has announced that the multiplayer shooter Outriders has surpassed 3.5 million unique players worldwide in its first month (April 1 – May 1, 2021), according to internal data.
“With over 3.5 million unique players, average play times of over 30 hours and extremely high engagement for co-operative play, we and the amazing team at People Can Fly are so excited with this initial success,” said Jon Brooke, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.
The player milestone was likely boosted by the game being available for free at launch to Xbox GamePass members. No actual sales numbers were announced.
Outriders is a 1-3 player co-op RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe. As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across the hostile planet.
Outriders launched on April 1, 2021, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One (free with Xbox GamePass), and PC.
