XDefiant to shut down in summer 2025

Publisher Ubisoft and developers Ubisoft San Francisco have announced that XDefiant is planned to shut down on June 3, 2025.

XDefiant is a free-to-play, online arena arcade shooter where players compete in 6v6 matches. XDefiant features factions inspired by various Ubisoft franchises.

Existing players will still be able to continue playing and access upcoming content until the servers close. However, the game has been pulled from stores and no longer available to download for new players. For those who purchased the Ultimate Founder’s Pack, you’ll receive a full refund. Players who made any purchases within the last 30 days will also be fully refunded.

The early response when XDefiant launched was strong as it became the fastest Ubisoft game to surpass five million users and in the end had over 15 million players. But this was not enough for the title to remain viable.
