EA botches Dead Space 2 PC Steam release
Steam users wanting to play Dead Space 2 on Steam are out of luck, the keys are not valid.
Dead Space 2 was released on Steam for North Americans just a few hours ago but there is a big problem; the CD Keys EA supplied are not activating. Whether the activation server is having problems or the keys supplied are wrong is unknown at this point.
Users on the Steam forums are reporting "Serial is Invalid" and "Product doesn't activate" among a list of other problems.
Jason from Valve has replied to the concerns "We've contacted EA about this, so hopefully it will get resolved soon."
So bad luck if you are wanting to play Dead Space 2 on Steam this morning. Those keys will not validate using EA's solidshield DRM system and therefore you will not be able to play at this stage.
Even more reason DRM should not be included on top of existing digital services. All it does is increase the chance of more problems happening for people who buy the game.
UPDATE: Problem has been fixed by EA
