Modern Warfare 2 PC: No Dedicated Servers or Server List
Infinity Ward hits the PC gaming community with bad news. No Dedicated Servers, no Server List. It's console matchmaking for PC users.
In a really suprising and incredibly disappointing way Infinity Ward has announced they have removed dedicated servers and server lists from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is in contrast to Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and Call of Duty World at War which both featured dedicated servers and punkbuster anti cheat.
The game will be using the customly designed IW.NET to create matchmaking setup similar to the console setup. This has been created by Infinity Ward just for the PC version. Whether this means smaller player numbers remains to be seen although Rob Bowling assured us that player numbers wouldn't be a problem.
The game apparently uses STEAM and will be VAC secured in comparison to the punkbunster system used for the previous versions. This will be seperate to the IW.NET system.
"Making it much more accessible to the PC community as a whole" - Rob Bowling
This will also probably indicate that Mods will not be possible in the shape it is now and you will be at the mercy of what settings Infinity Ward allow you to change. Apparently though the PC version is coming on the 10th of November.
