Nuketown 2025 removed from Black Ops 2
Removal of popular preorder map causes fan meltdown
The Nuketown 24/7 playlist has been shut down in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Treyarch twittered this fact not long ago via their official channels and have received a barrage of angry tweets. This is even despite the playlist suggesting that the game mode “never closes”. The playlist was apparently only available only for special events. This would include the double XP weekend which has recently ended.
Nuketown 2025 is not even available in the standard map rotation. The only way to play the map you preordered, or upgraded for, is through custom, non-ranked matches. Treyarch are thinking of adding the map to standard rotation but that could take weeks or months. Needless to say, the response from fans has been brutal over this removal. Players on the official call of duty forums, steam forums and other game forums have expressed their anger. Here is just a sample.
Nuketown 24/7 playlist was extremely popular, second only to core TDM on the PC. It was never made clear that nuketown wouldn't be in standard rotation. Nor was it mentioned that Nuketown was a "special occasion" map that would be put in hibernation for the rest of the time. While you can still play the map, not being able to rank up will prevent many people from bothering. The marketing push behind the preorders of Nuketown 2025 can only be described as deception via omission.
