Ubisoft reports Q1 2013 sales
Sales during quarter down 42% for the publisher, next-gen titles release windows narrowed
Ubisoft has released its sales figures for the fiscal quarter ending on June 30, 2013.
Sales for the quarter came to €76 million, down 42 percent compared with the €131 million recorded for the same period of fiscal year 2012-13, which saw the release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier.
There was a 56 percent increase in back-catalog sales to €60 million, thanks to a solid performance by Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, Just Dance 4, Rocksmit® and Rayman Origins. Digital sales are up 27 percent to €34 million, driven primarily by the success of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez The Gunslinger.
The next quarter will see the release of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist and Rayman Legends. Sales are expected to come in at approximately €200 million, up by around 35 percent compared to the same period of 2012-13.
The release of The Crew has been confirmed for fiscal year 2013-14 and the title is now included in Ubisoft’s targets. An unannounced franchise which was initially scheduled for release in 2013-14 will now enter the line-up for fiscal year 2014-15.
