Minecraft movie planned

Mojang founder Markus "Notch" Persson has confirmed on Twitter that he has reached a deal with Warner Bros. for a Minecraft feature film.

Persson confirmed his plans with formal interviews, stating "I am very well aware that this might be Minecraft jumping the shark, but how often do you get to be part of making a movie?"

Deadline has also reported that Warner Bros. had acquired the rights to Minecraft, with Roy Lee (The Lego Movie) and Jill Messick (Mean Girls) on board as producers.

Minecraft was a breakout hit on PC, with ports on Xbox 360 and PS3 arriving later. Versions for PS4 and Xbox One are also coming.
